Liminal Space is an aesthetic that refers to the feeling of being in a transitional space that has been abandoned. Liminal Spaces can be described as a location that is under normal conditions, full of people and inhabited, but is frozen, empty and slightly unsettling. A space of transition, waiting, and the unknown.

The concept of a liminal space encompasses a physical space that, due to their function, are transitional in nature. Liminal space aesthetics relates to the unique and combined feeling of eeriness, nostalgia and the apprehension one gets when presented with such places outside of their designed context as intermediary points between origin and destination.
